San Mateo Sconce
Greene & Greene Inspired Wall Sconce — Reeve House
The San Mateo sconce is an original Craftsmen Studio design created specifically to complement our San Mateo ceiling fixture — itself adapted from Greene & Greene's work on the Reeve House. While the ceiling fixture is the anchor piece, the sconce extends that design to the walls, allowing for a fully coordinated Greene & Greene lighting scheme throughout a room or hallway.
The most striking feature is the wide, flat-projecting roof — more dramatic in its overhang than most sconces in the collection — which gives the fixture a strong horizontal cap and a distinctly Japanese-influenced silhouette characteristic of Greene & Greene's finest work. The stained glass panels feature a symmetrical lead motif: an arched form with stylized tulip details cut into the woodwork at the center top. The motif echoes the decorative vocabulary of the San Mateo ceiling fixture, making the two pieces read as a cohesive family. The wall bracket is built from African mahogany with square Gaboon ebony inlay details and shaped shoulders at the top and bottom. Single socket rated for up to 75 watts.
