Sequoia Sconce

Greene & Greene Inspired Wall Sconce

The Sequoia sconce is an original Craftsmen Studio design created to pair with our Alameda chandelier — both pieces drawing on the lighting tradition of the J.A. Culbertson House in Pasadena, completed in 1911, one of Charles and Henry Greene's most accomplished residential works. Where the Alameda carries an abstract vine and blossom motif on iridescent amber glass, the Sequoia translates that same organic spirit onto the wall: a sweeping flowering branch rendered in dark copper-foil lead lines that moves freely across warm amber panels. The forms suggest cherry blossom or wild rose — irregular branching stems with open flower shapes that spill across the glass in the fluid, asymmetric way of a living branch rather than a designed pattern. It is the most Japanese-influenced piece in the collection and the most closely aligned with the naturalistic spirit that runs through Greene & Greene's finest work.

The mahogany wall bracket features cloud lift corner details and Gaboon ebony inlays — the hallmark detail of Greene & Greene woodwork. When lit, the amber glass and vine motif together produce a remarkably warm, living quality of light unlike any other piece in the line. Single socket rated for up to 75 watts.
