Canyon Lake Ceiling Fixture

Original Arts and Crafts Design — Quarter-Sawn White Oak

The Canyon Lake is an original Craftsmen Studio design created in the spirit of the American Arts and Crafts movement — a purely handcrafted expression of the principles that defined the era: honest materials, structural joinery, and ornament that grows naturally from the construction.

The frame is built from hand-selected quarter-sawn white oak using traditional mortise and tenon joinery, with corbel-shaped corner posts and gracefully arched upper rails that give this fixture a distinctive architectural silhouette. The quarter-sawn oak is chosen specifically for its medullary ray figure — the characteristic flecking that appears across the face of the wood when properly cut, giving the frame a natural depth and richness that plain-sawn lumber cannot match.

The stained glass panels are handmade using the copper foil method, featuring a warm amber background through which a vine and lattice pattern is worked — the geometric lattice providing structure while organic vines weave through it, punctuated by red blooms and abstract green forms suggesting leaves. The result is a warm, garden-like light that fills a room with color and brings the natural world indoors in the true spirit of Arts and Crafts design.
